Your support will help fund the replacement of the Veterans Honor Wall—a cherished tribute that will be relocated to Haines Falls Park. The new walkway will lead directly to the Gazebo, and the back of the wall will proudly display all Military Branch emblems. This summer, we will be offering engraved bricks 4 sale
Honoring Service, Building Community American Legion Bunt-Brewer Post 165 traces its proud history back to World War I. Named in tribute to two Hometown Heroes—Fred Bunt, who gave his life in service aboard a transport plane, and Kenneth Brewer, who who was killed in action—the Post stands as a living memorial to their sacrifice.
Founded by local veterans who sought to honor their fallen brothers, Post 165 has served our community ever since. Through decades of dedication, we’ve supported fellow veterans, uplifted local youth, and contributed to organizations that serve those who’ve worn our nation’s uniform.
Our fundraising efforts continue this tradition—fueling programs that strengthen our town, honor our heroes, and ensure that the spirit of service lives on.
We are a Veteran run not for profit organization chartered by the US Government. At American Legion Bunt-Brewer Post 165, we are committed to creating a supportive and inclusive environment for veterans and their families. As a veteran that has been honorably discharged, you are eligible to join us and be part of our community.

Our current project is to honor the veterans in our lives, who have been Honorably Discharged or who are currently serving in our Armed Forces. If you are or were from the Town of Hunter, or you are a full time resident looking to honor a family member please click for an application and more info.

Welcome to your Hometown American Legion. We want you, the full time employed family man and woman who can only spare an hour once in a while. Call us and chat about the possibilities. You've served your country with honor, now is your time to serve your community and fellow military brothers and sisters.
Join the Legion members and the community every other Tuesday at the United Methodist Church on Main St. in Tannersville. Bring your friends and enjoy a free lunch. It's a great opportunity to catch up with your neighbors and maybe even reconnect with old friends!
This years Memorial Day will be a service only event. We will meet at the Monument on Main Street in Tannersville at 10 am on Sunday May 24th. Light refreshments will follow.
We will see everyone at the Village Parade on July 4th.
Our Post is pleased to announce the sponsorship of a junior from HTCSD to NY Boys State. American Legion Boys’ State is a week-long program that immerses high school youth (currently completing their junior year) in citizenship and leadership training.
